Blue Ox Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk

Question:

We just have an 2014 cherokee trailhawk and am looking for the parts to tow this vehicle behind our RV American Tradition 2004 We have an air outlet on the RV. Am a bit concerned about the wobblefoot of this car which is mentioned on a lot of forums but not giving a real solution on how to avoid this. The setup I like is the Blue Ox # BX1136 with the Blue Ox Alpha # BX7380. For the brake system I Like the SMI Airforce SM99243 one setup but since I have the airconnection installe don the RV wondering if I need the whole package. This with Stop Light Switch RM-751471 and the RM-88400 relay BRAKE LIGHT RELAY Is there anything I need more to complete the installation to tow my Trailhawk?

You have a great setup worked out for flat towing your 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. The base plate kit part # BX1136 is a confirmed fit for your vehicle and the tow bar part # BX7380 is a popular option that would work well too.

For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.

The SMI Air Force One part # SM99243 will fit your Jeep too but is only available as a complete kit. I attached an install video for this kit on a similar 2015 Cherokee as yours too. You will also want the stoplight switch part # RM-751471 and the brake lite relay part # RM-88400.

Most likely you will also need a high low adapter so that the tow bar will be level when you are flat towing. I attached a link to a page that has all of the ones we carry.

I have included a couple of helpful links to our articles on flat towing for you. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for more specific information on flat towing your vehicle.
