Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch And Custom Rails Using Puck System On 2001 Ford F-250 w/ Firestone Bags

Question:

Jason did just fine . He did send me everything I needed to know except he sent me the cost for a Reese starter kit fifth wheel hitch which included a wiring kit. I don't need that kit but there is no way Jason could have known that. What I am interested in is the Firestone inboard ( inside the frame) airbags, unless there is a puck system that works it outside -the -frame airbags. I already have the exterior frame airbags installed with the tubing, compressor, and guage/ switch controller. So the airbags if needed, an under bed puck system, and I'm very interested in either the Reese RP 30867 (preferably) or the Reese RP 30866. My local RV dealership will do the labor.

For your underbed puck system on a 2001 Ford F-250, I recommend the Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit for Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP30073. This system is a custom fit for your vehicle and will give you the 4-puck system similar to those you see in the factory rail kits in current vehicle models.

For the hitch that is compatible with these pucks, I recommend the Reese M5 Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs # RP30921. This hitch allows you the uninhibited use of your truck bed when not installed and quickly installs locking into the 4 pucks. You can use a basic padlock to secure the hitch to your truck. This hitch adjusts from 14 to 18 inches.

Many Firestone airbags are compatible with 5th wheel hitches, however there are a couple that are not compatible that are confirmed to fit your truck. The # F4101, # F2223, and # F2550 are compatible. The # F2071 is NOT compatible.

There are not Firestone Air Springs that fit inside the frame on your 2001 Ford F-250, but as long as your outboard air springs are the models that I listed as compatible with in bed hitch, you will be fine using regular rails or the underbed puck system # RP30073 we previously discussed. If you want above bed rails instead you can use the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50082-58. The Reese Titan 20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch you mentioned will work great with your truck. This will fit on above bed rails or will fit in puck system when the Reese Elite Series Underbed Rail Adapter for Standard 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 20,000 lbs # RP30156. I've attached a video to help. This adapter will allow you to have the clean bed of a puck system and give you rails for a standard hitch when needed.
