When choosing a weight distribution system, the most important factor to consider is the total tongue weight of your setup. The total tongue weight will include both the loaded tongue weight of your trailer along with any added weight coming from behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. You will want this number to fall somewhere around the middle of the weight capacity range of the weight distribution system you choose.

The loaded tongue weight of a trailer is typically 10-15% of the trailer's total, loaded weight. Using the 6,300 pound gross weight of your trailer, we can estimate a loaded tongue weight between 630 and 945 pounds. I recommend using a tongue weight scale like the etrailer # e99044 to determine your trailer's actual tongue weight when it is fully loaded as if ready to head out on a trip. We will want to leave a little wiggle room to our above estimate to account for the weight coming from behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle.

I recommend looking at the Reese Straight-Line Weight Distribution w Sway Control # RP66074. This system has a tongue weight capacity of 600 pounds - 1,200 pounds, which should be perfect for your setup. This system features the dual-cam sway control that will stop trailer sway before it even begins and will evenly distribute weight over axles of the tow vehicle and trailer for added stability and control.

You will just need to add a compatible hitch ball and adjustable shank, like the Tow Ready Hitch Ball # 19286 and Reese Weight Dist Shank # RP54970 that has up to a 2 inch drop or 6-1/2 inch rise. I have attached a helpful article on weight distribution systems in which it explains how to choose the best weight distribution shank for your setup.

If you find that your actual total tongue weight is lower, I recommend instead looking at the Reese Straight-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66083. This is very similar to the above system but it has a tongue weight capacity range of 400 pounds to 800 pounds. The adjustable shank is included in this system so all you will need is the Hitch Ball.

I have also included a link that will take you to our selection of weight distribution systems for you to look over.
