Installing Reese Rails In 2008 GMC Sierra 2500 Short Bed

Question:

I have a pair of Reese rails Im going to use and going to borrow a neighbors valley hitch to mock up the rails and get them installed. I can find any specific measuments for this hitch as far as the spacing goes in-between where the hitch lines up with the holes in the rails. Can you give me some guidance as far as how to go about the install of these rails. Thanks

For your 2008 GMC Sierra 2500 with 6-1/2 foot bed, to install Reese Rails like # RP30035, you will need new hardware as old hardware could be compromised in strength. You will want to use the universal installation kit # RP30439 if you need the brackets and hardware or # C16111 for just the hardware needed.

The measurement from the rear edge of the truck bed to the back of the frontmost rail is 47.5 inches. I've attached a photo to help. You can use any industry standard size hitch to help you install the second rail, so as long as the valley hitch is industry standard size (which most are) you will be able to use it.
