Bypassing TIPM for 2006 Dodge Ram for Trailer Wiring

Question:

I found you guys in Google. My tipm is bad so now the right side brake/turn lamp of my trailer wont work. Dealer wants $900 to replace it. My truck is setup with a trailer brake and round 7 pin plug. What parts do I need to get from you guys to bypass the bad module? Thx

The trailer wiring circuits on the newer Dodge trucks have some interesting issues. The issue is the TIPM like you mentioned. If it detects enough shorts it will eventually lock up and require you to spend quite a bit of money. It basically is a big circuit board. The easiest way to deal with them is to bypass the factory trailer wiring. To do this with a 7-way like you said you have on your truck you will first need to start with a 4-way.

For that you will need the part # C58044. Now if all you need is taillight functions and your trailer does not have brakes all you would need to convert this to a 7-way is the part # 37185.

If you do have trailer brakes and need the 7-way to activate them as well you instead would want the part # ETBC7. I attached an FAQ on this part plus an install video.
