Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For 1997 Dodge Dakota Sport
Question:
Greetings, Im very interested in your model CURT Class 3 Trailer Hitch #13229. I like the 3 bolt installation. I see that it doesnt fit a 1997 dodge Dakota sport. Im wanting to make sure that is correct? If so is there another product that installs just the same? Looking for some guidance. Thanks

For your 1997 Dodge Dakota Sport, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 inch # C13280. This is a square tube design that will easily bolt on to your truck. It has a nice gloss black powder coat finish over a protective base coat for superior rust resistance.
There is not a similar hitch to the Curt # 13229 available in style or in the number of bolts to install. It is not compatible with your model year.
If you will be using this hitch receiver for towing, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118329 for your trailer wiring. This harness will connect to your factory wiring behind the tail lights of your truck.
For a ball mount, I recommend the etrailer.com ball mount kit # 989900. This kit comes with two hitch ball sizes (2 inch and 1-7/8 inch) and two different draw bar/ball mounts with different rise and drop. This kit comes with the pin and clip and will make it easy for you to tow multiple trailers level with your Dakota.
