Heat Shield Removal When Installing Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver on 2017 Subaru Forester
Question:
I have a 2017 Subaru Forrester and I had a Curt 1 1/4 inch hitch put on for a bike rack. The instructions that came with the hitch did not say to put the heat shield back on so they didnt, but the video said to cut away some of it and reinstall. Is there any problem with not having the heat shield on?

The trailer hitch receiver you purchased for your 2017 Subaru Forester is the Curt # C12100. In the video the installer does choose to cut the heat shield and reinstall it. However, Curt's instructions state to remove it. Either way is fine.
