Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for 2016 Ram 2500 Short Bed without Rail Kit

Question:

I have a 2016 Ram 2500 diesel 4x4 with the short bed. I dont think it has any kind of 5th wheel prep package installed. I will hook it to a 2007 Wilderness 2950 5th wheel that weighs about 13-14K. There seems to be dozens of hitches that would work for me. What is your recommendation? Also, how tough is installation? Is there a video for my particular truck?

Since your 2016 Ram 2500 has a short bed you will need a slider hitch to give you the needed turning clearance.

Since using a slider hitch can be a hassle at times the best option I recommend is the Demco Hijacker Auto Slide like part # DM8550034 as it will automatically slide as your make tight turns.

For a fifth wheel rail kit confirmed as a fit for your truck you would want then the part # DM8552025-71. This is a custom install kit that will install in about half the time and minimize drilling.
