Recommended Transmission Cooler For 2011 Chevy Suburban

Question:

Transmission cooler. I have a 2011 suburban 5.3 Vortec motor. I am trying to see if my vehicle actually has a trans cooler to be replaced. Looking through the front screen and from on top it appears the location of the transcooler is not in the same spot as your videos, or I dont have one. I have been getting temps of 265 when pulling my trailer and do not want ruin my transmission. Does my vehicle even have a transcooler? And if not, I understand I need to research more before installing one. Im mechanical but a mechanic. Let me know if you run into this problem and if there is a easy fix Im missing. Thanks!

You most likely don't have a factory transmission cooler on your 2011 Suburban 5.3 Vortec. If you are getting high temps like that, I recommend installing an aftermarket transmission cooler. It is easily installed in line with your radiator. I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class IV - Efficient # D13504. This cooler is 11 inches by 12 inches by 7/8 inch. It will prolong the life of your transmission.

I recommend getting the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting for GM # D13035 to fit your radiator. If you are mechanical, this will be a project you can handle. I've attached a video of this install on a Yukon for you to see a similar application.
