Recommendation for Using the Thule DoubleTrack Bike Rack When Towing a Trailer

Wondering if theres a double opening on the hitch bar? By the photo, it looks like there might be an opening facing out, with a cover on it? Looking for an option to use the Thule bike rack, and tow a trailer behind it?

We have 2 options that will allow you to tow a trailer and use a bike rack. The shank on the Thule Doubletrack Pro XT Bike Carrier, item # TH92BJ, is not designed, or large enough, to accept a draw bar for towing a trailer.

The first option, and probably the best, is to use a towing bike rack like the Thule Hitching Post Pro Rack, item # TH934XTR. this rack will allow you to carry up to 4 bikes and tow a trailer as long as the weight of the bikes, bike rack and trailer do not exceed the capacity of the vehicle, hitch or bike rack and shank.

The next option, is to use the Thule Doubletrack, item # TH92BJ, with a dual purpose ball mount like the Curt Trailer Hitch Ball mount with 2 inch Receiver for Bike Racks or Cargo Carriers, item # D210, if there is enough room over the tongue of the trailer to allow for turning with the platform style rack installed.
