All of the hitches available for the 2006 Toyota Highlander are designed with the end of the receiver very close to flush with the back of the rear bumper. The hitch itself will not extend past the bumper, without a drawbar installed in the hitch.
I have posted a photo that should help you visualize where the receiver on the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch, item # 75153, will be placed. I have also provided links to instructions and a installation video for you to review.
The K78229 hitch, that you referenced, does not show up in any of the research materials I have to match it to a vehicle or manufacturer.
