Recommended Transmission Cooler for Street/Strip Car

Question:

Trying to decide on a trans cooler for my street/strip car. Trans is TH-350 with a 8 inch 5000 stall converter. I have a TCI 823800 tube a fin cooler and trans temp reached 220F on a 40 degree day driving on the street. I can decide on a BandM 70274 or a Derale 13403. I dont have enough room between my radiator and grill to run a thicker cooler with a fan attached, I only have about 5 inches. Any recommedations on the two coolers or maybe another one that I am not aware of. Thanks!

As a general rule when looking at transmission coolers, especially when comparing stacked plate coolers, which represent the most efficient coolers available, you will simply want to try and find the biggest cooler that will still fit between the grille and radiator of your vehicle.

The Derale 19-Row Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit # D13403 referenced in your question is 13 inches wide x 7-5/16 inches tall x 2 inches deep. This is a really nice, heavy duty stacked-plate transmission cooler that will certainly help to prolong the life of your transmission by preventing heat-related failures. If you are able to fit this cooler between the grille and radiator, this is a great option. I have attached the installation details for your review.

I have also included a link that will take you to our available selection of plate-stacked transmission coolers as well as a helpful article on the subject for you to look over.
