Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2015 Ford F-150 with 5 1/2 ft. Box

Question:

What kind of 5th wheel hitch do you recommend. I have a 2015 F150 crew cab 4x4, 3.5 ecoboost with 5 1/2 ft box. Ill looking to buy a 2016 Cougar X-Lite 29RLI. unloaded vehicle weight is 7,580 lbs, cargo carrying capacity is 2,420 lbs, Hitch weight is 1,535 lbs. This camper is supposed to be rated for 5 1/2 ft box.

I did some research on the 2016 Cougar X-Lite 29RLI and it has a tapered nose to allow turning clearance with short bed trucks, but the nose isn't going to be adequate for a 5-1/2 foot bed truck. That would be too short to allow the clearance needed to not hit the cab of your truck while turning.

For the amount of clearance needed the hitch you need is 13K Demco HiJacker, # DM8550040 which can slide up to 21-1/2 inches.

For a rail kit you would want the part # RP50087-58 which is a custom fit for your 2015 Ford F-150 with a short bed and is compatible with the Demco Hijacker hitch I mentioned.
