Can Hopkins Install in 2016 Ford Transit T150 with Factory 7-Way
Question:
I have a 2016 Ford Transit T-150 wagon which has the factory heavy duty trailer towing package installed. It includes the 7 pin connector on the truck and when hooked to my trailer all of the lights and blinkers on the trailer work. Unfortunately the towing package does not include the electric brake controller control. I would like to install the Hopkins unit on to the Transit. I obviously dont need the ETBC7 stuff that is recommended on your site. So is there instructions as to how to hook up the hopkins HM47294 without using the ETBC7 since I already have the seven pin plug, and the factory wiring to it? I am not sure if I have a wire from the seven pin brake pin to the dash board or if I do, what color would it be?

For a wiring kit to install the brake controller to the factory 7-way of your 2016 Ford Transit T150 you would want the Wiring Kit for 2 and 4 Brake Electric Brake Controllers # 5506. This will provide the power source and ground for the wiring for the brake controller. You will need to test the wires from the brake pedal switch of your vehicle to find a circuit that has voltage when the brakes are applied and none when not applied. This will be the circuit you will run the red wire to.
Finally you will need to run a length of 10 gauge wire (part # 10-1-1) from the brake output circuit of the controller to the brake output circuit of the 7-way (blue wire). The # 10-1-1 is sold by the foot so you will need to order a quantity of the amount of feet you will need.
