To add the trailer wiring for a trailer with brakes, you will need to start with the Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT. This will connect to your vehicle wiring near the tail lights. There is no splicing required for this application as the converter uses power from your battery and senses current as it travels for your functions. This will give you a 4-way trailer connection. Then you can use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7. This will give you all the wiring, connectors, and circuit breakers needed to connect a brake controller to a 7-way connector.

For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional # 90195. This brake controller is easy to read and understand with its LCD screen. It takes the research out of code deciphering by giving you real-time information in an easy to understand manner. It is customizable for your driving preferences and has 3 levels of boost.

This is all you will need from a wiring standpoint to make your 2003 Fleetwood Excursion work with a trailer that has electric brakes
