How to Select Correct Ball Mount to Allow Trailer to Remain Level When Hitched
Question:
Hi - trying to level out an enclosed trailer with my new truck. This says you should not use to tow a trailer, so what can be used to do this safely. The trailer is the same one Ive had for years, as well as the hitch, but the pickup point on my new truck is about 2-3inch higher than my old one. Thank you.

Instead of a high/low tow bar adapter, choose a ball mount that has the correct amount of rise/drop so that your hitched trailer remains level with the ground, which is important for good handling.
The linked article explains how to measure to determine the correct rise or drop you need from a ball mount. I also linked our main page for 2-inch ball mounts where you can select one to allow your trailer to remain level. If you tow only one trailer you can choose a fixed ball mount like # C45342 or an adjustable one like # C45900 if you prefer to have the flexibility to level out other trailers you might tow.
