The Strait-Line weight distribution system is the name given to Reese weight distribution systems that use dual-cam sway control. Strait-Line gets its name from the fact that the dual-cam sway control it uses stops trailer sway before it starts, keeping the trailer and tow vehicle together in a straight line.
Dual-cam systems, like that found on Strait-Line Weight Distribution w Sway Control, # RP66074, are preferred over friction sway control because dual-cam systems are proactive; stopping trailer sway before it can even begin to sway. Friction sway control is a reactive system that works to stop trailer sway after swaying has already started.
I have included a link to the installation details for a weight distribution system that uses dual-cam sway control as well as a video showing a typical installation. I have also included a link to our weight distribution and sway control FAQ article for reference.
