Determining Replacement Components For Horse Trailer With Tandem Square Axles
Question:
I have a 2005 exis two axel horse trailer.It has square axels and ez lube spindels. It has electric drum brakes. I need drums and electric brake assemblies but dont know the axel weight. Thanks

There should be a label, sticker or metal tag on the axles or the trailer that describes the weight capacity of the axle and trailer you have.
Square axle capacities are hard to determine. Unlike round axles, they do not have specific capacity based on their dimension.
To find the right replacement drums and brakes you can measure the inside diameter and depth of your drums as shown in the attached photo. You will also need to know what the wheel bolt pattern is on the drum so you can use the wheels you have on the trailer. I have attached a helpful article that explains how to measure the wheel bolt pattern on your hub.
The only way you will be able to find the replacement components is to take the hub off one axle and check out the components on the hub. Look for numbers that can be stamped or etched on the bearings. If you cannot find the numbers you will need to use a digital caliper like part # PTW80157 and measure the spindle in the noted places on the drawing I have attached.
Once you get those dimensions let me know and we can figure out what bearing components you need.
