Usually when anything melts we tend to assume a catastrophic failure, but if you'd like to test your stabilizer motor directly (bypassing any switches and all of the trailer wiring) you may get lucky and find the motor is still okay. It may be a long shot but it is easy enough to test the motor as long as you can get access to the motor's terminals to apply power directly from a battery that you know has a full charge.
If the unit is a Lippert and the motor is indeed fried you may be able to find a suitable replacement motor only, like the C-800 Replacement Klauber Motor for Standard Lippert Stabilizer Jacks # LC138445 or the double-speed model # LC352338.
Whether you replace the motor only or the complete unit you will want to carefully check the trailer wiring to find the cause for the short that took out your motor, so the same thing does not happen to the new one.
