Will Rubber Tire Chain Tensioners Keep Cable Tire Chains Snug on 235/55-17 Tires
Question:
I have a 2015 ford escape with 235/55/r17 continental tires. I installed the glacier cable snow chains PW2029C and they didnt seem to tighten snuggly. the knobby adjustment was all the way at the tightest point inside and out and after securing the latch the chains were not tight on the tire. I later purchased the bungy spider, but have not tried it yet. what do you think?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Glacier cable type snow chains # PW2029C are a confirmed fit for the 235/55-17 tires on your 2015 Ford Escape. Because these light-duty chains are fairly lightweight they tend not to sit down on the tires the same way that heavier chain do. This is why we note on the page for these chains that tensioners are recommended. Using Glacier Multi-Arm Rubber Adjusters # PW105 or a similar product will enable a nice snug fit.
