It is a round tube design with black powder coat finish over a protective base coat for superior rust resistance. It is a bolt on installation with the included hardware. This hitch is made in the USA.
If you will be towing with this hitch, I recommend using the Pollak 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket, Chrysler/Dodge OEM Plug Adapter # HM40975-11933.
