Parts Needed to Change 4-Way Wiring Harness to a 7-Way Wiring Harness on a 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon
Question:
Have 2016 Outback with factory installed 4pin flat mounted near hitch on bumper. Camper has 7 pin blade and deep marine battery, no brakes. What parts do I need and how to replace the 4 pin flat on the car side with a 7 pin blade and have the 12v supply live so alternator charges battery while driving? Will want to mount 7 pin to bumper/hitch, even with zip ties if necessary

The easiest thing for you to do would be to use the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 to get the 7-Way wiring harness at the rear of your 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon.
This kit includes a wiring harness that has a 4-way and a 7-way built into it which is useful if you decide to tow a smaller trailer that only has a 4-way. It also includes the necessary wiring that you would need for a battery and a brake controller. Even though your camper does not have brakes on it I recommend running the wiring for the brake controller anyways because if you will already be running the battery wiring and if you end up getting a trailer with brakes or you want to upgrade in the future it will save you from having to crawl under your Subaru to add it.
This kit does come with a bracket for the harness that requires drilling but you can use the Short # 18140 or Long # C57202 No-Drill Mounting bracket as an alternative.
I have included some videos and a helpful article for you as well.
