Recommendation for a 5th Wheel Hitch to Fit a 2017 Ford F-350 6-3/4 Ft. Bed With Factory Rail Kit

Question:

I have a 2107 F350 short bed and am looking between the Curt Manual Slider and the Demco Auto slider. This is my 1st 5th Wheel. First off, in normal towing not maneuvering into a tight camping/parking spot is the extended mode needed? I.E. Do I need to think about manually enabling the slide just to turn a corner going down the road? Next the Demco seems to have a sliding bar latch for locking the king pin and the Curt has a double jaw. In reading your QandAs the double latch is a better way to go. How much difference will there be in chucking and such between the two?

Both the Curt Q20 hitch with Slider, # C16530-16020, and the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel, # DM8550038, will fit your 2017 Ford F-350 with the Ford Prep package. Both will allow to make your turns and at the same time ensure that you have enough clearance between your trailer and truck.

Between the two, I like the Demco hitch. The Autoslide feature allows you to make your turns with every leaving the cab of the truck. This hitch will allow you not to worry about if you need to engage the hitch or not at any turn. The hitch has a locking mechanism that locks the king pin in the head of the hitch. This locking system allows the pivot point to move from the king pin to the hitch head. As you make a turn the rack and pinion system of the hitch will detected when the head is turning and will slide the hide accordingly to coincide with the turn your are making with your rig.

The wraparound jaw and slide bar of the Demco hitch will secure the king pin in to the hitch's head. This jaw and bar system creates a nice secure mount that will definitely help eliminate the chucking that occurs in 5th wheel hitches. The Curt hitch uses a double jaw system that helps secure the king pin in the hitch, but from our customer reviews, the Demco hitch is very popular when comes to this feature.

I have included a product video on the Demco hitch for your to review.
