Can 2 Kayaks Be Carrier In J-Style Carriers On 2010 Honda Fit

Question:

Can I use J-style carriers to carry 2 kayaks on my 2010 Honda Fit? I am concerned that there will not be enough clearance for the kayaks due to the angle of the J-racks. Id prefer not to use a post style carrier because I read that it is difficult for one person to load the kayaks.

The kayak carrier I recommend for your 2010 Fit is the Yakima JayLow, part # Y04073. This is a folding carrier with a weight capacity of 80-lbs. This carrier folds down when not in use and it includes the tie-downs and straps to secure the kayak.

For the same style carrier but with the upright arm fixed I recommend part # TH834.

To carry 2 kayaks on your roof you will need 43-inches of crossbar space. The shortest crossbar we offer for your vehicle is 47-inches so you should have no problem carrying 2 kayaks on your roof rack. The # Y04073 can actually be used to carry two kayaks but this is by putting it into the post style position. It is usually more difficult to load the second boat with a post style. Especially if you're loading them by yourself.
