Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch And Rails For 2016 Ram 2500 Mega Cab With Rambox

Question:

I have a 2016 Ram 2500 Mega Cab with Rambox and I am looking for a 5th wheel hitch. I know that I will need a Reese Sidewinder or Revolution to get around the Rambox. I also like the clean bed when not in use so I thought about the BandW gooseneck to companion 5th wheel but they say the companion is not compatible with sidewinder. If underbed isnt an option are there other hitches that would work with my setup.

On your 2016 Ram 2500 Mega Cab with Rambox, you are correct that there are not underbed rail options compatible with your Rambox. You will need to use an above bed rail kit, but we do have kits that are custom fit for your truck. I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50054-58 that will give you custom brackets so you will use holes already in your frame for mounting. I've attached a video of this installation.

For a hitch, I recommend the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs # RP30928 with Wedge # RP44FR. This wedge allows the king pin of the sidewinder to remain fixed in the hitch head, instead of rotating.
