Recommendation for a 235/80-16 Trailer Tire for a 5th Wheel Trailer
Question:
I have a triple axel fifth wheel, which weighs 15,000 lb empty, and 19,000 lb when loaded going down the road. Max gross on this trailer is 21,000 lb My tires are ST-235/80-16 Im looking for the highest load rating I can find, cost not extremely important. Ive heard about the g614 from Goodyear, but they dont have that size, and I cant fit an 85 tire, as the tire-to-tire clearance is not adequate. Also, my wheels are not rated for 110 psi. Im not totally against buying new wheels, but would like to avoid that. What can you recommend for me?

Expert Reply:
I recommend Westlake trailer tire # LHWL401. This is a 235/80-16 radial tire, load range E, rated for 3,520 pounds at 80 psi. What sets this tire apart from others is the warranty and additional perks. It has a 5-year warranty AND complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change the flat for you. You can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year from anywhere in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico. I have linked a video review of this tire for you.
