Installation of the Draw-Tite Class III Hitch on a 2012 BMW X5
Question:
2 Questions: 1. Is fascia cutting required when installing a draw-tite 75600 trailer hitch on a 2012 BMW X5 35d Sport? Ive noticed that depending on the model/year, cutting may or may not be required. 2. Do the 4 black plastic caps on the bolts for the impact bar require trimming to enable the re-installed plastic bumper to fit over both the trailer hitch and impact bar? I will not be installing a wiring harness. Thank you.

According to the installation instructions for the Draw-Tite Class III Hitch, # 75600, for the 2012 BMW X5, you will need to trim the bottom section of the bumper fascia when installing the trailer hitch. The instruction will show you the correct measurements needed and where to trim on your bumper fascia.
After watching the installation video of this hitch on a 2012 BMW X5, I did not see where the 8 total flange nuts that hold the hitch and impact bar to the frame of the trailer needed any removal or trimming of a black plastic cap. I contacted the manufacturer of the hitch and they could not find anywhere in their information that this was needed to install the hitch.
I have attached the installation video for you to review.
