Towing Capacities of 2007 Honda Ridgeline

Question:

I purchased my 07 Ridgeline used last year and believe that it is a factory unit. Can anyone tell me what capacity specs it has as I will be towing a trailer with 4200 lbs and a tongue weight of around 420lbs? Thanks

The owners manual will be the final authority on the towing capacities of your 2007 Honda Ridgeline. From the research I did on your vehicle it looks to have a 5,000 lb total trailer weight capacity and a 500 lb tongue weight capacity.

The Curt hitch part # 13385 that we offer that is a fit for your 2007 Honda Ridgeline has the same capacities as well.

If you have a stronger towing hitch can the 07 RT 4 wd tow 5600 solair pull behind 2019 camper by forest river

You will always be limited by the capacity of the vehicle. So even if you upgrade to a higher-rated hitch, the 5,000 pound towing capacity mentioned above for the Ridgeline still needs to be adhered to.

Is there any way to lock it in 4 gear?I know the push button on the shifter holds it in 3 Rd.

I don't think there's a way to lock your Ridgeline into 4th gear. I would hesitate to lock the truck into a certain gear when towing anyway, as this could lead to issues with the transmission depending on how hard you're pushing the truck. I pulled up the owner's manual for the 2007 Ridgeline and the only note with regards to gears during towing is that it does say NOT to use D3 when pulling a trailer under normal conditions on level roads. You can switch to D3 when going slowly down a hill if needed.

Is it normal for the Ridgeline transmission to shift down then back up seemingly frequent while towing.

It's completely normal for the transmission on your Ridgeline to shift up and down while towing. You likely will notice it more when going up/down hills and accelerating. This also wouldn't be unique to just the Honda Ridgeline.
