Comparing Effects of Tandem Axle Shock Kits vs. Cushioned Equalizers Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2015 Surveyor 220 with a 7k load capacity and would like to upgrade the suspension with a system that would include smoothing out the ride so I am looking at the Dexter Flex equalizer or the LCI shock kit which I would need two. I see good comments for both but Id like to see a comparison of the pros and cons between the two to determine which one I would consider.

In terms of bang-for-the-buck, I would suggest the cushioned equalizer option over a shock kit for your tandem-axle Surveyor 220 travel trailer. You would need two shock kits to go that route whereas you would need only one equalizer kit.

Also, the effects from the equalizer tend to be more consistent across varying trailer weights while the shocks tend to do their best when you are closer to your maximum load capacity. Shocks like # LC281281 will do more good for large bumps while the equalizers will work best to smooth out minor road irregularities.

The linked page will display all tandem-axle cushioned equalizers; we have kits from both Dexter and Lippert. You will want to match your existing equalizers' dimensions to the new parts, which are sold in pairs.
