2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Options Needed To Tow a Trailer

On your 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, if you do not already have a 4-flat trailer plug installed, then you will need to install wiring harness to allow you to use the lights on the Detail K2 trailer, # K2MMT5X7.
The wiring harness that I recommend is the Tekonsha 4-Pole Flat Connector, # 118384. This harness is designed to plug in to the existing wiring of your Jeep with no cutting or splicing. The harness will allow you to run the trailer lights off your vehicle's lights.
Next, you will need a ball mount and trailer ball to connect your trailer to your vehicle's hitch. For your application, since we don't know your hitch height or the trailer coupler's height, I recommend you go with the Convert-a-Ball Adjustable Ball Mount, # TK5007. This ball mount has a maximum drop of 10 inches and rise of 8 inches. The mount will adjust in 1-1/2 inch increments. This adjustable mount will allow to adjust to the height of your trailer coupler to provide for a level tow.
You will also need a 2 inch ball with 1 inch shank for this ball mount. # 63845 is a 2 inch ball with 1 inch shank that will work perfectly with the ball mount.
I have attached a couple videos for you to view on the products listed above. One is an installation video for the wiring harness. We have not had a 2017 model come through our install as of yet, so the video is on a 2015 Jeep. The installation should be the same between both year models.
