The trailer wire harness I recommend for your 2005 Sorento is the Curt T-Connector, part # C55550.
This harness plugs into the vehicle wiring behind the rear bumper to give you a 4-way trailer connector. There is no cutting or splicing into the vehicle wiring. I have attached a link to an installation video for this harness on a 2005 Sorento you can check out.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
