What Brake Controller And Wiring Is Recommended For A 1997 Chevrolet Silverado K1500
Question:
Dear etrailer Going to be installing a brake controller and wiring on a 1997 Chevy Silverado K1500 and I was wondering which brake controller you would recommend? I was considering the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 based off the good reviews I read about it. I was also wondering what wiring kit I would need that you might carry that will allow me to hook up the controller to the truck and get brake wire and power wire to the rear of truck. The truck already has factory 4 pin wiring to the rear of the truck. Also would the install on my truck be the same as the install video you did on the 1993 yellow chevy suburban! Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time and attention!!

I would also recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885, for your 1997 Chevrolet Silverado. The Prodigy 2 brake controller is our best selling model. It can be mounted in a 360 degree vertical range and will level itself automatically. It is a proportional brake controller, which means that the brakes are applied to the trailer at the same time and same strength as the brakes on your vehicle. I am including a link to the instructions on the Prodigy P2 brake controller if needed.
You will need to hardwire the brake controller to your vehicle with the Brake Controller 7 & 4 Way Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. The # ETBC7 kit comes with a new 7-Way and 4-Way connector which will plug into your existing 4-way trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. The 4 remaining wires (Ground, Brake, Power, and Auxiliary) on the connector will be hardwired to the vehicle. I am including a link to detailed instructions on how to install the # ETBC7 kit on your vehicle.
I have included the video link of the brake controller and the # ETBC7 being installed on the yellow 1993 Chevrolet Suburban. It will be the same installation as on your 1997 Chevrolet Silverado.
