How To Determine What Is Needed To Put Electric Brakes On Trailer

Question:

I bought a used trailer which has a Dexter axle with a 8-133 hub. The trailer used to have electric brakes and Im trying to replace the missing parts. There are no markings on the axle and it had a welded on brake flange where the shoes slide on /clip on. I need to determine the parts and numbers needed to rebuild the brake assembly. Thanks

I have attached a link to a helpful article that explains what is needed to add electric brakes to a trailer. You will need a digital caliper like part # PTW80157 to measure the spindle when it comes time for the bearings and seals that will work with the spindles on the trailer.

Once you have determined what size brakes you need you can use the attached link to find the brakes and drums that best fit your trailer.
