Recommended 5th Wheel Slider Compatible With 2016 GMC 2500 Or Hitch Compatible With Sidewinder
Question:
Im in need of a 5th wheel setup for my new truck to pull my camper and Im having a hard time figuring out which is best. Truck: 2016 GMC 2500 w/ 6.5 bed FACTORY PUCK SYSTEM Camper: 2002 Glendale Titanium 32E37DS. GVWR 11,463 Im thinking I will need a slider or perhaps a Sidewinder. The only hitch I know of for GM puck is a Curt and I was thinking of the A16. But how do I figure out what Sidewinder to use, I see three on the Reese website. I am not totally opposed to a slider but it would still have to be GM puck compliant. Thank you.

For your 2016 GMC 2500 With 6-1/2 foot bed, because you have the factory puck system, I recommend using the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C16521, along with the Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider - Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # C16023.
This will be compatible with your truck and your 2002 Glendale Titanium trailer.
If you want to use a sidewinder, then I recommend using the Reese M5 Fifth Wheel Hitch # RP30890 so you have a non-moving hitch and then you can use the Sidewinder to give you the rotating turret 22 inches back for the clearance you need.
The proper Sidewinder for your trailer is dependent on your trailer's pin box. There is a number that is listed on the pin box itself, normally on a sticker that makes this process easy. However, if you cannot find the pin box, I've attached an article to help you take the measurements needed to determine the correct fit for your trailer. When we know your pin box based on label or measurement, we can ensure the correct Sidewinder.
