Recommended Trailer Hitch And Bike Carrier For 2014 Honda Accord
Question:
Hey Guys, I have a 2014 Honda accord hybrid. I want to be able to us a flat bed carrier and bike rack occasionally. I would prefer to use a 2inch hitch because we have a truck also and would like to use our accessories for both vehicles. and adapter would be out of the question due to out mountain bike weight. I know using a adapter reduces my capacity 50 and that puts me close out over the capacity. I will not be towing at all just looking for the extra space the hitch offers. Are there any options for my car besides all the 1.25 hitches?

All of the trailer hitches available for your 2014 Accord are Class l and have a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.
It sounds like you are aware that placing any adapter in a hitch will reduce the towing and tongue weight capacity by 50 percent. The trailer hitch I recommend for your Accord is the Curt, part # C11496.
From my research I found the towing capacity for your Accord is 1,000-lbs. That means the tongue weight capacity is between 100 and 150-lbs. This would be the weight of the carrier and any cargo in the carrier like a bike.
One of the lightest bike carriers we offer is the Curt # C18085 rack. This carrier will work in 1-1/4 and 2-inch receivers and it has a capacity of 45-lbs per bike. The carrier itself weighs just 46 lbs so you can possibly be under the capacity for your Accord with this bike carrier and not have to use an additional adapter.
