Troubleshooting 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 Brake Controller Problem With Draw-Tite Activator II
Question:
Sir or Mam, I recently bought a 2016 Dodge Ram 4x4 SLT. It has the tow/haul package but no oem tralior brake control. I took the one from my last truck and installed it on the ram 3024-p But when I plug the tralior into the truck the only thing I am getting is the red dot to appear and not the brake control numbers as you would see if you press the brake. The trailer brake control unit is a Draw-tite Activator two. It worked perfectly a week ago on the old truck but I am not sure if I missing something with the ram. Its only four wires. Thank you

The Draw-Tite Activator II Brake Controller will not work properly with your 2016 Ram 1500. There is something in the wiring of the newer vehicles that doesn't give the voltage needed for some of the older model brake controllers, so you will need to upgrade. I've linked the page to all of our brake controllers compatible with your truck.
You will still be able to use the # 3024-P wiring harness adapter for brake controller if you already have that.
My recommendation for a brake controller is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 which is a great functioning proportional controller that gives you the LCD screen and takes out the code deciphering headache. It has 3 levels of boost and is adjustable to your driving preferences.
Since you are used to a time delayed model, the similar option that is functional with your truck is the Tekonsha PowerTrac # 39523, though I highly recommend going with the P3.
