Recommended Trailer Hitch And Brake Controller Wiring For 2013 Toyota Sienna
Question:
I need to wire my 2013 Toyota Sienna for a hitch and brake controller wiring. I only see the wiring for a 4 prong plug and not the full circle wiring harness for the brakes as well. Can you tell me what parts that I would need. Thank you

For your 2013 Toyota Sienna, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III - 2" # C13105. This hitch will give you the most options for accessories as well as ball mounts compatible because of the hitch size. You will also need a ball mount and hitch ball. I recommend using the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 7,500 lbs, # 989900 that will give you two different rise and drop options as well as two hitch ball size options to allow you to tow a trailer level.
For your vehicle wiring, I recommend starting with the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118498 which will give you a 4-way plug as you stated. This is an easy installation connecting with clips behind your tail lights and having a power wire for the ModuLite that runs directly to your battery. This will protect your vehicle wiring from overload. Then you will want to get the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 that will give you the wire, connectors, and circuit breakers needed to connect the 4-way and make it a 7-way. This kit will allow you to add a brake controller so you can tow a trailer with brakes.
For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 because it is an easy to read and understand unit with its LCD screen. It tells you what you need to know in real time and in a way that is easy to understand. There is no light or code deciphering with this controller. It is also customizable to your driving preferences and has 3 levels of boost. It is a proportional controller meaning it will apply the trailer brakes with the same intensity and at the same time as you hit the brake pedal in your Sienna.
This system will give you what you need to use your 2013 Toyota Sienna to tow a trailer with brakes.
