Recommended 5th Wheel Sliding Hitch For 2015 Ford F-250 With 6-3/4 Foot Bed
Question:
I have an F250 short bed truck. I will be pulling a 30 ft. 27RKS Keystone Cougar, will I need a sliding 5th wheel?

Yes. For your 2015 Ford F-250 short bed, you will need a sliding 5th wheel hit for your Keystone Cougar 27RKS.
If you don't have the factory fails, then I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50026-58. This is a no frame drill installation that will give you standard rails that are compatible with Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese and Valley 5th wheel hitches.
I recommend a sliding hitch like the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs # RP30051. This hitch is very well made and has excellent king pin contact along with an easy to use manual sliding base to give you 10 inches of travel between the locking positions.
If you want a sliding hitch option that you don't have to be concerned about when to have the hitch in a particular locked position for best handling and clearance, the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 18,000 lbs # DM8550034, will do that work for you. This hitch will automatically slide to the proper position for you so you don't need to get into the bed of your truck and move to get it to lock into the proper position. This hitch does the work for you and provides a nice controlled movement to minimize chucking.
If you have factory rails, you can use the similar # DM8550024 or # RP30144 which are custom made for OEM Rails. You can also use the Reese Elite Series Underbed Rail Adapter for Standard 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 20,000 lbs # RP30156 to get standard rails for any other sliding hitch that is compatible with standard rails.
