Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara with XRC Bumper

Question:

Hi, Can you recommed a tow bar, tow brake, tow light set up for my 2007 jeep Sahara unlimited 4 door? The jeep has an xrc aftermarket front bumper with D rings at the frame. I was thinking of the blue ox alpha tow bar BX7380 and possibly buying adapters to bolt directly to the front bumper becasue I have a winch on the bumper and I dont think the base plate will be easy to install. Can you give me some suggestions?

First of all the Blue Ox Alpha # BX7380 is a great tow bar. And it includes safety cables.

To use the Alpha with your XRC bumper you can use the Blue Ox Bolt-On Brackets # BX88230. These bolt directly onto the bumper, like you were saying, and then pair with any Blue Ox tow bar. With the XRC bumper this is your best option because it's unlikely a base plate kit is going to fit properly.

To power the lights of your 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara you can use the diode kit # RM-154. According to the owner's manual, your Jeep's battery must be disconnected while flat towing. You can use a battery disconnect switch # RM-766 to make this easier.

For a supplemental braking system the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 is a favorite around here because of how reliable it is and it's easier to install than many other permanently installed systems. A brake light relay # RM-88400 is also necessary to keep the Jeep's brake signal from overriding the RV's turn signals.

Finally, you'll likely need a high-low adapter. I've attached an article to help you determine the correct rise or drop your setup requires. I've also linked our selection of adapters for you to look at once you know what you need.

In addition to my recommendations I've linked some articles on flat towing that you may find helpful.
