Recommended Snow Tire Chains for 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe
Question:
I have a 2016 Chevy Tahoe w/ 275 / 55 R 20 tires. Can you tell me whats the best fit for snow cables or chains? I live in Southern California and go to the mountains a couple times a year. Usually without need but this year, with the extra snow, I want to make sure Im prepared! Also, for an SUV like this are chains or cables a better choice? Thanks so much!

I have some recommendations for the tire size that you have, but when I looked up your 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe owners manual it states that if you are using the 275/55R20 size tires to not use tire chains. There is not enough clearance and if you were to use chains it could cause damage to the brakes, suspension, or other vehicle parts.
If you decide to go ahead and get tire chains, the instructions for smaller tire sizes on your Tahoe say to install them on the rear tires only. Cable Snow Tire Chains, like part # PW3029C are a good solution if you are just going to be dealing with snow, but the cables don't work nearly as well as chains do when it comes to ice.
The best option for your tires in the snow and ice would be the Diamond Pattern Titan Chain # TC2327. These chains are much easier to install that ladder-style chains and they feature the square links and a diamond pattern which will work much better than other options when it comes to dealing with snow and ice.
