When figuring out where to position your axles on your trailer you will need to determine wheel weight and tongue weight of the trailer to get the final total weight number of the trailer.
You will need to complete the deck and body of the trailer mock up the axles on the trailer so you can get your wheel weight. This will include that 5,200 lbs weight you plan to have permanently sitting at the rear of the trailer. In other word, the trailer will have to be fully completed.
Then, with the trailer completed, you will need to figure out what your actual tongue weight of the trailer. You can use a tongue weight scale # e99044 to determine the tongue weight of the trailer. Adding these two weights together will give you the total weight of the your trailer.
I have attached a picture that will show you the formula that you will need after you have obtained the needed weights. The formula is based on of your tongue weight is greater or less than 10 percent of the total weight of the trailer.
The formula will give you the correct distance from the tongue of the trailer where to permanently attach your axles. Looking at the weights you are suggesting, your axles will most likely be located farther towards the rear of your trailer. However, you will not know for sure until you get your weight and perform the measurements.
