Recommended Roof Rack for Kayak Transport on 2012 Ford F-150 SuperCrew Cab

Question:

I have a 2012 Ford F150 SuperCrew, no cap. Looking to haul two kayaks on a roof rack. Preferably one of the carriers being a Hullavator that would be used to raise a kayak and then hop it over to another carrier for tie-down. Im also open to using two hullavators is theres an option for 62+ bars and weight of a second hullavator doesnt become a problem. What are my options? Thanks!

Since the Thule Hullavator Lift Assist Kayak Carrier # TH898 weighs about 40-lbs the ability to use two of these on your truck cab comes down to the weight of your kayaks. The total combined weight of the two carriers, two kayaks and the roof rack you install must together not exceed the Ford's weight rating.

Since the Hullavator fits most roof rack bars you can select one of those shown on the linked page. The page displays 60-inch bar racks that fit your SuperCrew Cab; this is the longest bar size for your truck. I recommend the black Thule AeroBlade Traverse system made of parts # TH711520, # TH480R and # THKIT1521. This rack provides a clean appearance and works great with the Hullavator.

Since you cannot fit a second Hullavator on the 60-inch bars for your second kayak carrier you can use a J-style unit like Thule's Hull-A-Port # TH834. Another carrier I really like for its unique design and value is the Swagman Exo # S65145. This might be a good choice when shifting the kayak from the Hulla-A-Vator.
