Weight Distribution System Recommendation for Camper that Weighs 3,000 lbs
Question:
I have a 2005 toyota 4runner v8. from what i can find it has a tongue weight of 600 or so. i now tow a hybrid starceaft camper about 2500-3000 pounds. the weight on my hitch really causes a sag. Id like a suggestion for weight distribution and sway control w/ allowing back up while connected. Ease of set of would be nice as well. Thank you

The correct way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
Most likely your tongue weight is going to fall between 300 and 450 lbs so I would recommend the Reese Strait Line part # RP66082 which has a tongue weight of 200 to 400 lbs, features the only proactive sway control designed to fight sway before it starts, and also allows backing up.
For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
