Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Recommendation for 2017 Ford F-150 for Installing Older Reese Hitch

Question:

If I have a 30000/30001/30002 old Reese hitch on a 1995 GMC truck that mounts around the wheel wells could I mount that same one but maybe a different hardware kit on my 2017 F150?

Sounds like you are referring to a fifth wheel rail kit that fits between the wheel wells which is what the hitch attaches to. For a rail kit you would need the part # RP56034-53 but since your truck has a 5-1/2 foot bed your trailer will need to have a Sidewinder installed on it.

You will need to remove the pin box of the trailer and replace it with a Sidewinder pin box. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
