There is a way to use a 5th wheel trailer hitch on your 2016 Ram 2500 short bed with Ram Boxes but none of the HiJacker hitches will work. Instead you will need to use a fixed hitch and a Reese Sidewinder pin box on the trailer. The Sidewinder will move the pivot point of the trailer 22 inches back from the hitch and the pin box will not rotate in the hitch. This method prevents the pin box from making contact with the bed sides when turning.

First you will need an installation kit. For a custom kit that will fit models that have the factory air suspension I recommend # RP50054-58. Then you can use a fixed hitch like the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Slide Bar Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C16115 along with sidewinder wedge # RP64FR.

For a Sidewinder it will depend on what the factory pin box is on the trailer. This information should be on a sticker or plate on the pin box itself. With that information I can determine if there is a Sidewinder that will fit.
