Underbed Mount and Auto-Slider 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab Short Bed
Question:
2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab 2 Wheel Drive - Auto Slider Is the RP30051 a manual or auto slider? Can this be installed on a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab 2 Wheel drive 6foot bed with air bags? If yes, can it be used with the Reese 30156 Rail Kit Mounting Adapter assuming this is the correct kit and this rail kit can be installed as an after market on the truck. If none of this is possible on this truck what options do you have for an auto slider and all required rail kits that also allows for easy removal so the truck bed can be used with no rails sticking up?

Expert Reply:
Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30051 is a manual slider hitch. For an auto-sliding hitch I recommend the Demco HiJacker # DM8550022. It can be installed on a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 short bed with air bags using custom under bed installation kit # DM8551005. The frame brackets of this kit are narrow enough to not interfere with air bag mounting brackets.
You mentioned adapter # RP30156 which is an adapter for Ford trucks with the factory 5th wheel prep package. It does not fit the 2006 Dodge Ram.
