Recommended Frame Mount Trailer Hitch And Bike Carrier To Fit 2016 Jayco Pop-Up Camper
Question:
I have a 2016 Jayco Jay Series 10foot pop up camper. It has an A-frame style frame. Jayco says the bumper is rated at only 100 punds, including the spare tire, and I have a spare tire. I would prefer to install a bolt-on frame hitch, so I can just use my existing bike racks on the trailer just slip them on and off as needed. I need a bike rack with rails loops for the tires non-hanging type because I have two mountain bikes with 3-wide and 4.7-wide tires very wide. Do you think I could install the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22inch to 72inch Wide, Part #13703? If not, what do you recommend? I am trying to stay away from a bumper-mounted or spare tire mount hitch. Just not sue if this hitch will line up with my frame. Thanks.

I understand you wanting to install a frame hitch instead of a bumper hitch because of the weight limit. You will need to make sure the camper frame can handle a hitch installation as well.
Depending on the camper frame width the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch, part # 13703 may work great for you. If you find the hitch can be installed on yoru frame you can check out the attached drawing and note the dimensions of the # 13703 so you can make sure you have enough ground clearance when it is installed. The receiver opening on this hitch is 2-inches.
The bike carrier I recommend is the Swagman Dispatch, part # S44FR. This carrier has a weight capacity of 45-lbs per bike. Since you said your bikes have fat tires you will need to add The Fat Bike Adapter, part # S64694 for the bike that is 4.7 inches wide. The carrier will accommodate the bike with the 3-inch wide tires.
