What Class Hitch Will Fit A 2003 BMW 325i Sedan And How Many Bikes Can It Carry

Question:

Im considering above for my 2003 bmw 325i sedan. It seems actually to be more or less the only option. Some questions: 1 I assume only class I hitches are made for this car? 2 Ive read mixed things on how many bikes I can carry on this rack. I know 4 is out of the question but have seen web threads stating carrying 3 x 35lb bikes is possible. Can you lend an opinion on this? I really need ability to carry 3 bikes. 3 if you have any other suggestions or comments, please let me know. Many thanks.

The Curt Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # 11178, is for the 2003 BMW 325i Convertible only. You will need the Curt Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # C11174, for the 2003 BMW 325i Sedan. This hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs.

For your vehicle the Curt hitch # C11174 is the only hitch available and it is a Class I hitch. I am including a link to the instructions on the Curt # C11174 hitch.

On a bike rack that is listed to fit a Class I trailer hitch we will recommend the same as what the bike rack manufacturers recommend, that you can only use 2 bikes on a Class I trailer hitch. We have quite a few of 2 bike racks that will fit a Class I hitch.

We have a listing of five 3 bike hitch bike racks that will show as fitting a Class I hitch, Class II, Class III hitches, but it is stated in the specifications that when using the bike carrier with a Class I trailer hitch, you can carry only 2 bikes.

I am including a link to a FAQ page on hitch bike racks.
