Compatibility of Kuat Sherpa 2.0 with 2014 BMW X1 with Invisihitch

Question:

Hi E-Trailer, Planning on installing an Invisihitch on my 2014 BMW X1. Looking for a lightweight rack as Ill likely be taking this off during the week so I can park in the city. Any ideas on installation/compatibility with X1 using the Invisihitch? Folded up? Rear Camera view with rack folded up/down? Parking sensor freakout with rack installed folded up/down? With the rack folded up how far does it extend behind the X1? At the moment this is for 26 inch and 29 inch mountain bikes but scheming a 27.5 plus. Any issues with plus up to 3 inch tires? Thanks for your help.

The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack # SH12G is a great rack. It will fit 1-1/4, Class I and Class II trailer hitch receivers. There is also a model that fits 2 inch Class III receivers, # SH22B.

It's designed to fit tire sizes from 20 to 29 inches so your 26, 29, and even 27.5, if you go there, will be just fine. Also, it will hold up to 3 inch wide tires.

I can't speak directly to its fit on an Invisihitch or a 2014 BMW X1 but from looking at the vehicle the rack will be visible in the back up camera but not in the way, especially when folded down. However, the parking sensors will probably go crazy. This'll be an issue with any hitch mount rack most likely.

From the hitch pin hole to the closest point of the rack when folded up is 9 inches and is 13 inches when folded down. The furthest point is about 20 inches when folded up and 36 inches when folded down.

With an Invisihitch you may need a vertical receiver adapter like the Curt # C45013.
