Recommendation for 5th Wheel Hitch to Tow 18K Trailer on 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500
Question:
Just bought a new 2016 Chevy 3500 diesel and I need a hitch to tow my 5th wheel. I did not buy the factory 5th wheel package, so I will need the hitch and the mount. 5th wheel weighs around 18k loaded. What do you recommend?

To tow your 5th wheel trailer that weighs around 18K loaded with your 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, I recommend using the Select M5 Fifth Wheel Hitch from Reese, part # RP30928 along with the installation rails and kit, part # RP56001-53.
This is an excellent hitch with a gross towing weight capacity of 20,000 lbs and vertical load limit of 5,000 lbs. It features a forged, sing-piece jaw that provides more king-pin contact where it attaches to the hitch, helping to minimize jarring and rattling while towing your 5th wheel trailer. The base rail kit includes custom brackets that use existing holes in the truck's frame, meaning there will be no frame drilling required during the installation process.
For towing your 5th wheel trailer I also recommend a 5th Wheel Wiring Harness such as the Hopkins Endurance, part # 41157. This will simplify the hookup of your 5th-wheel trailer by plugging into the existing wiring of your vehicle and retaining the use of the factory 7-pole at the bumper.
